Pro-Road Global supplies penetration-grade bitumen for Brazil: PEN 60/70 and 85/100, delivered to Brazilian ports in 7 to 14 days.
Pro-Road makes PEN 40/50, 60/70, 85/100 and 120/150 penetration-grade bitumen in its own plants. Container sailings deliver to Pecém, Santos, Paranaguá and Manaus. Every grade with a datasheet ships with its technical sheet. Below you will find the grade table, delivery details for Brazilian ports, and the documentation Brazil’s buyers ask for.
Product range
Which penetration grades does Pro-Road supply to Brazil?
Pro-Road supplies four international grades for hot-mix paving: PEN 40/50, 60/70, 85/100 and 120/150. Pro-Road also supplies Brazil’s own CAP 85/100, CAP 50/70 and CAP 30/45. Grade codes with a link open that grade’s datasheet.
| Grade | Type | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| PEN 40/50 | Penetration-grade bitumen, hard | Hot-mix asphalt in hot climates and heavy traffic |
| PEN 60/70 | Penetration-grade bitumen, medium | General hot-mix paving, the most widely used grade |
| PEN 85/100 | Penetration-grade bitumen, soft | Hot mix in cooler or high-altitude areas |
| PEN 120/150 | Penetration-grade bitumen, softest | Cold regions and surface treatment binder |
| CAP 85/100 | Penetration-grade bitumen, soft | Hot mix in cooler or high-altitude areas |
| CAP 50/70 | Penetration-grade bitumen, medium | General hot-mix paving |
| CAP 30/45 | Penetration-grade bitumen, hard | Hot-mix asphalt in hot climates and heavy traffic |
Brazil’s own DNIT 095/2006-EM specification names these three grades by penetration.
Delivery
How does delivery to Brazil work?
Delivery works by container sailings to ports across Brazil. Sea transit takes 7 days to Pecém, 9 days to Santos, 10 days to Paranaguá and 14 days to Manaus.
| Destination state | Discharge port | Sea transit |
|---|---|---|
| Ceará | Porto do Pecém | 7 days |
| São Paulo | Porto de Santos | 9 days |
| Paraná | Porto de Paranaguá | 10 days |
| Amazonas | Porto de Manaus | 14 days |
Your quote confirms the schedule for your destination port.
Penetration-grade bitumen and asphalt cement ship in big bags of 1000 to 1300 kg, or in drums. The minimum order is 24 MT, one full 40-foot container.
Melting
How do you melt bitumen from big bags?
You melt bitumen by heating the whole bag in a melting unit. Bags are charged whole, so nobody cuts, breaks or shovels solid binder. Heat is applied indirectly, so the binder is not scorched at the wall. Local overheating damages the binder. Controlled heating avoids it. The melted binder is drawn off to the distributor or the plant.
A big bag holds 1000 to 1300 kg and is lifted by its four lifting loops. A forklift, telehandler or crane with a spreader handles the load. Bags are lifted level, one at a time. No special decanting equipment is needed to move a bag from the container to the melter. The ASMELT bitumen melter and decanter is built for this step. If you already run a melting unit, the big-bag format loads straight into it.
Applications
Which penetration grade suits Brazil’s climate?
Hotter climates and heavy traffic call for a harder grade, such as PEN 40/50 or PEN 60/70. Cooler or high-altitude areas call for a softer grade, such as PEN 85/100 or PEN 120/150. Your quote confirms the grade against your project specification.
Two factors shape Brazil’s asphalt market.
- DNIT, the Departamento Nacional de Infraestrutura de Transportes, sets Brazil’s federal highway standards under Norma DNIT 095/2006-EM. ANP, the Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis, regulates the CAP product specification and oversees imports. Import of CAP into Brazil requires ANP authorisation, held by the importer of record.
- Brazil’s Novo PAC programme has earmarked R$96.6 billion for highways through 2026, within a wider R$280 billion transport plan. The share of federal highways in good condition rose from 50% to 75% between December 2022 and December 2024.
Big bags are stored on level, drained ground, kept off the surface on pallets or dunnage. They are covered against prolonged sun and rain to protect the bag fabric. Solid bitumen does not separate during storage.
Why Pro-Road
Why buy bitumen for Brazil from Pro-Road Global?
You should buy from Pro-Road Global because it controls product, price and logistics from plant to port:
Documentation
What documentation ships with the container?
Each shipment ships with the technical datasheet for the grade supplied. The commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading travel with every order.
Datasheets for each grade are on our datasheets page.
Commercial terms
What commercial terms does Pro-Road offer?
Pro-Road supplies Brazil on CIF or CFR terms to your discharge port. Your quote states the incoterm, freight and delivery window.
Standard payment is in advance. Qualifying buyers can request 50% in advance and 50% against the bill of lading. Approval depends on the company profile and credit record.
FAQ
What do buyers ask most about bitumen supply to Brazil?
Buyers most often ask about big-bag handling, melting, minimum order size and documentation.
How are big bags lifted and handled on site?
Big bags hold 1000 to 1300 kg and are lifted by their four lifting loops. A forklift, telehandler or crane handles the load. Bags are lifted level, one at a time.
Can big bags be stored outdoors, and for how long?
Big bags can be stored outdoors on level, drained ground, kept off the surface and covered against sun and rain. Covering protects the bag fabric. Solid bitumen does not separate during storage.
How do we melt the bitumen?
