Pro-Road Global supplies MC-30 cutback and CA, AC asphalt cement grades in Chile, delivered to San Antonio in 12 days.
Pro-Road manufactures CA-14, CA-24, AC-20 and AC-30 asphalt cement, plus MC-30 cutback for prime coat work. Every solid grade ships in big bags of 1000 to 1300 kg. Below you will find the grade table, delivery details for San Antonio, and the documentation Chile projects ask for.
Product range
Which asphalt cement and cutback grades are available in Chile?
The grades available for Chile are MC-30, CA-14, CA-24, AC-20 and AC-30. Datasheets for AC-20 and AC-30 are available in Spanish.
| Grade | Type | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| MC-30 | Cutback, medium curing | Pro-Road supplies MC-30 for prime coat (imprimación) on a granular base |
| CA-24 | Asphalt cement, higher viscosity | Hot-mix asphalt in hot climates and heavy traffic |
| CA-14 | Asphalt cement, lower viscosity | Hot-mix asphalt in cooler or high-altitude areas |
| AC-20 | Asphalt cement, viscosity graded | Hot-mix asphalt where the spec calls for AC grading |
| AC-30 | Asphalt cement, viscosity graded | Hot-mix asphalt in warmer service conditions |
Which cutback grades are available?
The cutback grades available are MC-70, MC-30 and RC-250. MC-70 has a published datasheet. MC-30 and RC-250 are quoted on request, stating volume and destination port.
Delivery
How does delivery to Chile work?
Delivery works by container sailings to San Antonio. Sea transit takes 12 days.
Your quote confirms the sailing schedule and door-to-site timing for your order.
Packaging depends on the grade shipped, and the minimum order is fixed:
- Asphalt cement ships in big bags of 1000 to 1300 kg, or in drums.
- MC-30 cutback is liquid at ambient temperature. It ships in 200 kg steel drums or in an isotainer.
- The minimum order is 24 MT, one full 40-foot container.
Melting
How do you melt bitumen from big bags?
You melt asphalt cement by loading the whole bag, straight from the pallet, into a melting unit for heating. Heat is applied indirectly, through hot oil coils or diesel burners, protecting the binder at the wall. Controlled heating this way keeps the binder from local overheating damage. The melted binder is then drawn off to the distributor or the plant. The ASMELT bitumen melter and decanter is built for this job. If you already run a melting unit, the big-bag format loads straight into it. MC-30 cutback ships liquid and ready to apply.
Handling a big bag on site follows a few fixed steps:
- A big bag holds 1000 to 1300 kg and is lifted by its four lifting loops.
- A forklift, telehandler or crane with a spreader handles the bag.
- Bags are lifted level, one at a time.
- No special decanting equipment is needed to move a bag from the container to the melter.
Big bags are stored on level, drained ground, kept off the surface on pallets or dunnage. They are covered against prolonged sun and rain. Solid bitumen stays stable during storage, so protecting the bag fabric itself is the priority.
Applications
Which asphalt cement grade fits Chile’s climate?
Hotter climates and heavy traffic call for a higher-viscosity grade, such as CA-24. Cooler or high-altitude areas call for a lower-viscosity grade, such as CA-14. AC-20 and AC-30 fit projects that specify AC-graded asphalt cement. MC-30 cutback is specified for imprimación, the prime coat before the wearing course. Your quote confirms the grade against your project specification.
Chile spans three distinct climate zones for paving work:
- The Atacama Desert in the north brings intense surface heat.
- The Andean altiplano sits at high altitude and stays cold.
- The southern Carretera Austral region is wet and cold.
Chile’s national road network is managed by the Dirección de Vialidad, part of the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP). The Manual de Carreteras, updated in January 2026, sets Chile’s paving and materials specifications.
MOP announced Plan Ruta Austral in April 2026, a CLP $800 billion programme for the Carretera Austral corridor through 2030. It covers 150.4 km of new paving on Route 7 between Puerto Montt and Villa O’Higgins.

Documentation
What documentation comes with each shipment?
Each shipment comes with four documents. These are the technical datasheet for the grade supplied, the commercial invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading.
Datasheets for AC-20 and AC-30 are on our datasheets page, in Spanish. Ask for the datasheet of any grade with your quote request.
Commercial terms
What commercial terms does Pro-Road offer?
Pro-Road supplies Chile on CIF or CFR terms to San Antonio. Your quote states the incoterm, freight and delivery window.
Standard payment is in advance. Qualifying buyers can request 50% in advance and 50% against the bill of lading. Approval depends on the company profile and credit record. Pro-Road accepts third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or a similar body at your request. The inspection is quoted and billed separately.
FAQ
What do buyers ask most about bitumen supply to Chile?
